Mental Blocks

I’m used to handling things on my own. What will others think?

First, you cannot control what others think. You gotta let that one go. Being able to admit you need help with something shows STRENGTH. You should celebrate the courage it took to look up my website to consider help. You are here because you desire to THRIVE.

What’s the difference between talking to you, my best friend, or family?

True, talking to a friend over a cup of Starbucks is far cheaper and less threatening. Right? But, I have gone through years of training. You will learn new approaches to situations, new skills, and different perspectives. I will listen to you without judgment or expectations. Sweet, huh? Oh, and the process will help you hear yourself. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business” because counseling is confidential. And, if some really dark content has to be explored, it is done in the safety of my office.

How does it work? What do sessions look like?

Great question! First and foremost, your comfort and feeling of safety must be established. And truly, every session has a different vibe. Your session is tailor made for you. You might need to process by talking, then move to an expressive activity, and back to processing. You are the boss. You just have to be willing to show up and be honest about feelings and experiences.

How long will it take?

Another great question! You determine this. That is the authentic truth. Your willingness to show up, be honest, desire for personal development, and commitment…all come together to determine how you move through to your desired outcome.

I want to get the most out of my time in counseling.

You have to want this. There will be times, when you really begin to work, that you wanna say, “…to hell with this,” and run. So, don’t run, you must understand that in counseling, “you gotta feel it to heal it.” Yea, it sucks at times. Oh, but what a sweet spot it is to get to the other side of the pain. You got this!
